Does pulling wisdom teeth hurt????

Help. Dentists and orthodontists and all those people suck. I was supposed to get my braces off in June...then the end of the summer...now its the end of summer and they're saying november. WTF?

Besides that they're going in to pull down a molar thats not coming in and they decided to add taking both of my upper wisdom teeth.

From people that have had them taken out - does it hurt? how much? does it hurt after?

:( ♥

Does pulling wisdom teeth hurt????
Sad truth: dentists and orthodontists all make money from removing your teeth. Yes, you'll have a nice smile at the end, but often times their surgerys are not 100% necessary.

But let's say that they are...removing your wisdoms doesn't hurt if you're knocked out for it like I was. Afterwards it DOES hurt, but it's like a dull ache and they give you REALLY fun pain medicine to cope with it. Don't worry about the pain. Honestly, the worst part for me was how my face was swollen so I looked like a chipmunk for three days. Fortunately I was on the meds so I just giggled through most of it like a little school girl.

Reply:If you take anesthia, it won't hurt until you wake up from after the operation because you don't feel it when they are pulling them out.
Reply:wisdome teeth dont hurt while they take them out. you usually have novacaine and in some instances they will give you laughing gas or even sedate you if your insurance will cover it. however, some people notice more pain after the teeth have been pulled. usually a few hours after the teeth have been pulled the pain starts. the docs usually give you pain killers to help or a high dose of ibuprofen. everyone is different and it depends on your pain tolerance. dont worry about them taking the teeth out its what it feel like after the teeth are out that is painful. but prehaps you will not be in much pain at all...you just dont know! good luck and hope all goes well!!
Reply:I had my wisdom teeth taken out and I had 0 problems or pain!! Mine were broken off and in really bad shape too. I had mine pulled out by an oral surgeon who was GREAT!! He put me out so there was NO pain felt by me during the pulling. Maybe you should look into that. I didn't even have any pain or swelling after it was done..didn't even have the perscription for pain killers filled. Don't be too worried. Most people just like to scare you when it comes to the dentist as if you already aren't scared enough on your own.

You'll be fine. Maybe talk to your dentist about referring you to an oral surgeon..then he can put you out for the procedure!!
Reply:I got two words for you: Oxycodone; hydrocodone.

Enjoy.
Reply:The best answer I can give you is....

"It's not going to NOT hurt."

or, "You may experience a little discomfort."
Reply:my dentist did the exact same thing... I don't even remember the pain at all anymore.... besides you can take medicine to not feel that much pain
Reply:The upper wisdom teeth are the least painful to get out. They generally sedate you so you don't feel anything during. I felt a little pain afterwards, but pain medicine, ice, and lots of rest helped. I was eating normally (big sandwiches and all) in two or three days. After about a day and a half, all I had was stiffness.

The small pain you go through now is completely worth it. My wisdom teeth were impacted and partially sticking through my gums. It felt as if I was constantly teething for about four months. If you do let your wisdom teeth in, they are difficult to clean and your gums can get infected.

Trust me, short term pain is better than what can happen.

Here's my dentist's website about wisdom teeth. Maybe it will help you.

Reply:Well I wouldnt know if it hurt while they do cuz I was knocked out cold while they did it. I know the day after it hurt intill I took my Vicoden and went to vicoden land and slept all day. Also I got sick 2 days in a row from the anthesia they gave me. I couldnt eat anything without it coming back up. Its been a good 2 and a half weeks and Im fine and still healing. My gums r healing(or trying) and my stitches r falling out. My jaw still hurts a bit ever now and then but other than that I am fine now.Oh and I can't open my mouth very wide yet...but ya..
Reply:you won't feel them pull the teeth because they will give you drugs to knock you out

but you will have pain later when you wake up for a few days
