Braces??? teeth hurt??
1. I personally think that a great smile is worth the high cost, and the occasional discomfort of braces. I highly recommend them because it will boost your self esteem and confidence. If you can afford them, definitely get them, especially with what you describe. I had them when I was 10, about 17 years ago, and then AGAIN 15 or 16. My girlfriend has just recently gotten hers on again at the age of 22, along with her twin sister.

2. I don't think my insurance covered it, and from what I remember, it cost around $2000. I am also pretty sure that we didnt pay for the second round of braces because they took them off too early.

3. The first time i had my braces, it took about 2 years. My teeth were messed up pretty bad though so it really depends on how bad your teeth are. The second time, I think i had them on for 1.5 years or something.

4. You now have a bunch of options for braces. I had the regular ugly metal ones. My girlfriend paid the 250 dollars more and she got the clear ones. You hardly notice them in picture and whatnot. Unfortunately, her twin sister got the metal ones. At least now I can tell them appart! JK. If you are worried about looking like a metal mouth, get the clear ones. Theres a lots of attachments they can put on braces. I had a head gear. It connect to the molars, came out of the mouth, and was attached to the head with an elastic strap. That was horrible. It looked like I had a brush guard for my mouth. It was removable so i could eat. I think I had to wear that for 14 hours a day or something. That pushed the molars back farther. The other thing i had was elastics that connect from the top to the bottom teeth. Those brought teeth that were too high or too low more aligned Since you said your mouth is crowded.. you might get thing my gf has. It fits behind the upper teeth, at the roof of the mouth. This is not removable and its designed to make the mouth wider and less crowded. Eating with it can be tricky though.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!
Reply:braces are no big deal. i have them, they go by fast and they only hurt for about three days every couple months. they are not cheap, but they are definatly worth it. just do it!
Reply:yes there will be some discomfort due to your teeth correctly realigning

the cost vary by orthodontists and services they offer

but you are both working towards a positive outcome
Reply:Braces, hurt for the first 3 days. I couldn't even eat a banana, lol. But it was fine afterwards. I had an overbite, crossbite, and crowded teeth. Had to extract some teeth, which were a pain in the "butt". It cost around 6 thousand dollars for me, but my teeth were pretty mess up. lol. Usually only 3 or 4 thousand dollars. Not to mention my insurance didn't pay for it. Oh and I have to wear a stinking head gear to fix my over bite. Good Luck!
