I got my braces off today and a few of my teeth hurt when i touch them or when i breathe in sharply?

When i got them off my ortho. shaped some of my teeth a little bit and thats where it hurts the most...





my gums are also a little swollen, i know that will go away but is there any advice anyone has for me?

Take 2 Tylenols and go to bed. You'll be better in a few days.

Reply:Grin and bear it like when you had the braces... You just need to adjust to the brace free teeth. Just like getting used to the braces. I have my braces till I'm 20 or older. I'm 14.

Reply:That feeling goes away after a couple days, but you could always try a tooth paste called sensodyne. It helps strengthen sensitive teeth and works quite well. Try to avoid harder foods for a little while and you might want to try to make a habit of flossing to help strengthen your teeth and gums.
Reply:Ibuprofen (Advil) will reduce the swelling and help with the pain. If you teeth and gums are sore, you might want to try something like Anbesol to help numb the pain. Ask your orthodontist what he/she would recommend. It's only temporary. Congratulations on getting your braces off! You must be so excited! I know I was!
Reply:I wore braces for 5 years. Use sensodyne toothpaste. If it helps continue its use. Your teeth are going to be sensitive for a short while, they have been covered with cement or metal for awhile.





Right to tylenol or what ever pain reliever you can tolerate. If sensodyne, a week or so, and tylenol don't decrease the sensation, see your Dentist. It is not uncommon to have vey small scratches or indentations on the enamel from your Orthodontics that can cause some discomfort.





Some people just have sensitivity to hot, cold, air, sweets and they have to get used to dealing with it. Even if they never wore braces. I do and it is not fun but it is nothing that I can't deal with. Smile, your teeth are beautiful!
