Whenver I get sick, the worst part of it is that my teeth hurth!! It's not really my teeth themselves, but more like my gums. It feels like soreness. Can someone explain this?? Thanks!
My teeth hurt when I'm sick?
Several different things could be happening. Because your immune system is working overtime, your gums may become slightly inflamed. You may be more sensitive to pain when you're sick, especially if your temperature is above normal. Also, if you have a sinus infection, the roots of your upper teeth are VERY close to the sinus cavities in the face, so it may feel as though the teeth and gums are achey. Ibuprofen, tylenol, or aspirin can help most of the time. I don't know your age, but if you are in your teens, don't take aspirin or ibuprofen if you have a viral infection - stick with Tylenol to avoid the possibility of Reye's syndrome.

Reply:This is actually normal for some people. Especially with colds its due to the virus running its course, just like your body aching. Taking an over the counter medication like Tylenol, Advil etc. usually helps alleviate the pain.
Reply:Could be a sinus infection. Many are diagnosed by dentists. If that could possibly be the case get it checked out, because if it's bad enough to make your teeth hurt, you probably need an antibiotic.
