I am preggo and every single night my teeth ache. Most of the time it is either all of the top right or left side of my mouth taking turns each night. I use tylenol when I can not stand it but it barely touches the pain. I don not see any cavities or anything in my mouth. I know only a dentist can tell. However, it started right when I got pregnant. Has anyone been through or known someone who went through this?
Preggo and teeth hurt everyday since......?
I had horrible teeth problems when I was pregnant. Get you self to the dentist to get checked out. Dental care is VERY important when your pregnant. If the dentist wants to do any work make sure you speak to your OB before you have anything done and make sure your dentist knows your pregnant. Good Luck!!!
Reply:I would go to the dentist. You could have an infection which could have an affect on your baby. It is recomended to go to the dentist at least once during pregnancy. No x-rays though.
Reply:Yep. Mine turned out to be a tooth infection. It's dangerous to let it go untreated so I would give your dentist a call just to get a check up and a good cleaning done. It might just be swollen gums. The hormones do tend to do that but it's best to get a good check up done. Just make sure your dentist is aware you are pregnant and they will know what is and isn't safe.
Tooth infections can move into the blood stream causing miscarriage or preterm birth.
Reply:I have been going through this the past few weeks! It's is because of the calcium being drained from you to the baby! During pregnancy some women experience their teeth shifting, which at night I have felt and heard my teeth crackle, which is very uncomfortable and annoying! Take your prenantal vitamins, drink milk, orange juice or anything that is high in calcium it will help ease the pain for you, and help provide your baby with strong healthy bones! Congrats!
Reply:Before my friend was pregnant she had NO fillings, or cavaties. By the time she had her daughter she needed to get 12 fillings..12!!!!!! Pregnancy can do weird things to your body...all of a sudden I'm blind as a bat at night, and can't drive, which is so odd! Consult your dentist, and keep up on your teeth!
Reply:Usually your Gums will be sensitive and bleed during pregnancy because of all the extra blood going through your body, Just drink lots of milk and brush your gums 2-3 times aday. If that ain't it then you should visit your dentist. Good Luck.
Reply:do you still have your wisdom teeth? My teeth hurt so bad with all of my pregnancy's. Bleeding gums, swollen gums, receding gums, and my wisdom teeth always acted up. I even had to start using sensitive toothpaste and when i went to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned they had to numb my mouth before they cleaned because the pain was so bad. Try letting the tylenol sit in your mouth against your gums where the pain is, and let it dissolve a little before you swallow. It tastes awful but goes right into your blood stream where you need it to go first.
Reply:You can buy this stuff called Goodys
it is already in powder form...let that settle in your mouth before swallowing it down with milk....it comes in orange flavor too.
It contains aspirin and caffeine and acetaminophen, so talk to your Dr about taking them first. But they really work.

Reply:The fact that the pain shifts from side to side leads me to believe you may have a sinus infection. Sinus infections can cause serious pain in your teeth because the root of your upper teeth extends into your sinuses. The shifting pain is likely caused by infected mucus draining from one side of your face to the other, depending on which side you are laying on. Pregnancy causes increased congestion in your sinuses which may have prevented proper drainage and caused infection. I would call your general practitioner before a dentist. Or both!
Good luck to you and I hope you are feeling well soon!
Reply:I have not had those issues and have really not heard about that before... not that it is not real or anything, but I would call the dentist you might need a root canal or you might just have an infection of some sort - an infection could hurt you and your baby so its worth going to the dentist even if there is nothing wrong - they will do xrays which are perfectly fine while preggo! Good luck!
Reply:I went through that. I had to be prescribed amoxicillin twice because of infections. That was the only thing that made the pain stop. My teeth were loosened during the pregnancy, and I actually lost a tooth afterward. The most important thing you can do is get yourself to a dentist. If the dentist balks at x-raying you or examining you fully because you're pregnant, have your OB/GYN either consult with the dentist and let the dentist know what it is okay and not okay to do, or write a note to the dentist outlining what treatment you are allowed to undergo. I wish I had taken things more seriously when I was pregnant.
Many women have tooth and gum issues while pregnant. It is a common problem, but unfortunately many dentists are uneducated in dealing with it and will refuse to x-ray or treat pregnant women.
Reply:Its actually pretty normal, your teeth and gums can change during pregnancy. You should take extra care of them while your pregnant, as they are more likely to become inflamed and infected. The inflammation can be painful so that's probably what your experiencing. My gums bleed everytime I bushed my teeth while I was pregnant, but after giving birth they went back to normal. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!!
Reply:Sometimes pregnancies affect women's teeth. Like you said only a dentist can assist your teeth and tell you what is going on. I believe your best bet would be to go to dentist and get examined just to see what's going on. On the flip side, I wouldn't get to worried. Many women have issues with their teeth during pregnant. Just see a dentist.
