Why is it when you have a cold it makes your teeth hurt?

I dont know if its necessarily a cold, maybe a sinus infection, but something, but my sinuses are stopped up, my nose is running, i have a cough and sneeze, and every time this happens to me (usually every winter) my teeth really hurt. Whats the reason for this?

Why is it when you have a cold it makes your teeth hurt?
Your sinus are so swollen that they are literally pushing on the roots of your teeth.

For some reason, my bottom teeth hurt at the same time as my top, but this makes no logical sense to me.

Here is a link concerning it

Most times I just grin and bare it, pop pain relievers and periodically ask someone to shoot me.
Reply:The pressure in your head from the congestion puts pressure on your gums.
Reply:that's a really good head cold . Go and see your doctor for some Antibiotics for you . Then you feel better
Reply:dont know
Reply:It is because your sinuses are connected to the back of your throat, through your ears and head. The sinus pressure from your head and throat affect your jaws, so therefore, your teeth will hurt because of it.
Reply:I think it has to do with your sinuses but I'm no doctor.
Reply:I get the same thing, and I think it's because pressure in the sinus cavities pushes on nerves that connect to the teeth.
Reply:I don't believe this happens to everyone. It's a side affect that you get unfortunately when you are ill. However, I doubt seriously that you are alone. We all have our own little set backs. To feel secure though you should look up information on the internet. You never know.
Reply:Aww, poor baby.

I got braces on 3 months ago as an adult and my teeth hurt all the time is this normal?

Orthodontist is highly recommended. He put a new kind of wire on my bottom teeth that make them move faster but they hurt all the time. My top teeth have the ceramic braces and they are not so bad. Anyone with same issues?

I got braces on 3 months ago as an adult and my teeth hurt all the time is this normal?
Yes, unfortuately it is pretty normal for them to hurt. I survived 4 long years of braces and hated every minute of it but in the end, you will be very happy that your teeth are straight. If the pain is like EXCRUCIATING, then you should probably talk to your orthodontist about it but yes, there is usually some pain involved with braces.
Reply:yeah
Reply:uh yeah. thats normmal.
Reply:it shouldnt hurt all the time maybe you should talk to your orthadontix about that but you should fell pressure b/c of the movement of the teeth and when you eat fot the first couple of weeks you are goingt to feel pain and be uncomfortable but it well pass with time
Reply:Unfortunately, yes.
Reply:I think it is, but just in case, talk to your orthodontist.
Reply:seems that he has really tightened them up to speed the straightening process, if they are really bugging you, you will have to have them loosened, but only slightly as they won't work. look ahead to your lovley pearly whites. good luck
Reply:yes it is normal. About the time it starts feeling better they will need tighten and you have to go through the same discomfort again. It gets better when you teeth get used to it. If you have severe swelling then you need to let your dentist be aware.
Reply:That new wire probably is the problem. Anytime they tighten the wires it hurts until the teeth move into position. The pain should be less a few days after your appointment then when the orthodontist readjusts them they will hurt again. Remember you have to move the teeth, the ones that have been in that spot for a long time. Be patient, take some Motrin and the result when finished is great.
Reply:Moving your teeth to a new position will hurt some. Moving them faster will cause them to hurt more.

Try taking tylenol or ibuprofen to help with the pain.
Reply:It stops hurting after a while once you get used to them.
Reply:Oh yeah it is normal all right, now i am only 14 but i have had braces for 2 1/2 years! For the first...um...5 months they will hurt every time u get your bands and wires changed. After that your teeth become more accustomed to changeing and moving so it wont hurt as much, but they will hurt again when they make big movments. Then when you get rubber bands the hurt like hell, but only for the first month or so. All in all it is a short term pain for long term relief! I hope to get mine off this summer! after 2 1/2 years i am SO ready for it! And hopefully soonger than 2 1/2 years your smile will also be PERFECT! good luck!
Reply:I've had braces, and this is COMPLETELY normal. The pain will eventually wear off within days. You may feel throbbing. You may be able to sense your pulse through your gums. You should feel pain each time your brackets are tightened, or if you have invisalign, you will feel more pain when you switch to a new set. Stock up on Jello, mashed potatoes, and Advil. You're going to need it!!! BTW, NEVER QUIT WEARING YOUR RETAINER! YOU WILL REGRET IT!
Reply:if you get braces as adults then it will hurt more because of how everything stops growing after a teen. Your stuck unless you really use force to move those teeth! Now whenever my doctor tightens my braces they start to hurt in about 1 hour. it hurt so much i didn't feel like eating for 3 weeks. I had to chew the food very slow and drink a lot of fluids to make me full. if it's too tight and you feel sick or if it still hurting after a couple of weeks then talk to your orthodontist.
Reply:never had them myself,

nut could have use a few

from what I've heard that is most often the case

for you are trying to move bone into new positions

I remember once a young fellow that was a co-worker of my wife

he talked about the subject quite thoroughly

I had a daughter that was coming due for then, but this kid talked about the great kid %26amp; how he would never do it to his kid no matter how bad the teeth

that I let it go

not sure if she ever forgave me

had it done years later as an adult

no pain

no gain

I guess

You ought to call the Dentist %26amp; ask questions

If you don't trust him for some reason

Talk to another dentist %26amp; ask questions like you are thinking of having it done

Once I had a bad dry socket after a toothh removal

After 4 days of pain

I finally called the doctors office

What did I know

I had always heard that having teeth removed hurt like hell

%26amp; this one did

She informed me that I must have lots of tolerance for pain as the last time someone had one that bad she had to put him in the hospital

Myself I had always thought of myself as a coward when it came to pain

Everyone is different

so call
Reply:Yeah, they're just moving, which causes pain. Your teeth will probably go through phases where they really hurt, and then stop hurting. This is normal, so don't worry.
Reply:I am a dentist.

No, it is not normal. It us, unfortunately, common. Of course, it depends on what you mean by "all the time".

That "move faster" business is just plain false. More force cannot make teeth move faster. There is either enough force to make teeth move, or their isn't.

To understand why teeth hurt when you get braces, you need to know a little about dental anatomy. Teeth don't sit directly in the bone. They are supported by something called the periodontal ligament (PDL), which actually allows the tooth to flex a little. Compress this PDL, and like any other area of the body it will bruise and get sore. That's why your teeth will have a dull ache after the orthodontist adjusts your braces.

Teeth don't move because the braces are dragging them through the bone as you would drag a pole through water. Orthodontic movements occur because enough of a force is being applied to stimulate the bone to remodel around the tooth: bone is resorbed in front of the tooth, and bone is built-up behind the tooth as the tooth moves. This process requires just the right amount of force.

It is likely that your orthodontist has either recently tightened your braces, or that he has tightened them too much at the last visit and now too much force is being applied to the teeth, causing what is known as "undermining resorption", which is often painful. In either case, as the teeth move into their new positions, the force on the teeth will decrease, inflammation will decrease, and you'll be more comfortable.

I just gor rubber bands with my braces and my teeth hurt sooo bad?

I've had braces for about a year and now i just got rubber bands. My teeth hurt so bad and i can barely open my mouth lol HELP!!

I just gor rubber bands with my braces and my teeth hurt sooo bad?
Lol..

I HAD braces.

When you get your elastics on, yeah it might hurt..

You can't do anything about it Lol.

Try sleeping, because you'll just forget about the pain.

And, remember.. This'll all be over, and you'll

HAVE STRAIGHT TEETH. ^^
Reply:you know, you could adjust those things, did your dentist tell you?maybe when you see your dentist again he will fix this for you. hang in there.i know someone who had the rubber bands too and once he was in class when he yawned one of his rubberbands broke loose and flew out of his mouth. lol.
Reply:its usual for your mouth to hurt, just give it a while and you'll get used to it; but if you dont, you can explain it to your orthodontist, and he might make them more loose.
Reply:ok I am going to be honest. I never wore my rubber bands and my orthodontist never notices, and the same thing happened to like three of my friends. If it hurts too much- just take them off.
Reply:Tylenol, Advil, or any number of other anti inflammatories can help immensely.

Also try an oral analgesic, which helps to numb your mouth. Your local drug store should carry these items.

Good luck!

I had a filling a week ago and now my other teeth hurt terribly?

Having bad ear and neck pain, the filled tooth however is sometimes sensitive to cold and pressure, taking Ibrufen helps as long as the effect of it is present ,the dentist advised antibiotics which I am taking too he said I had a deep cavity, what could be the reason for the other teeth to hurt?

I had a filling a week ago and now my other teeth hurt terribly?
It's maybe possible that you have other cavities. Idk what kind of dentist would miss that. And yea, i had a filling two days ago, it sux. but I didn't get the same kind of pain as you did. oh will I'm sorry your in pain
Reply:You probably need a root canal. The filling could be infecting the tooth in someway and it causing the other teeth to hurt.

How much and how long will braces make my teeth hurt?

I'm getting them the upcomming Monday, and i wanna know before hand what I'm gonna go through. So how much and how long will my teeth hurt

How much and how long will braces make my teeth hurt?
You will be in pain for the entire time you have the braces. The pain will not be constant throughout (day-in and day-out), but at the time they put them on, you will be in pain for a few weeks.

After that, every month when you go to see your orthodontist and he/she tightens them and when you have to use the rubber bands, you will be in pain. Then, when the metal brackets rub against the walls of your mouth you will be in pain because it will cause cankre sores (unless you faithfully use the dental wax on those brackets that rub).

You will get used to it. The pain is not something that is unbearable, unless you have a low tolerance for pain. Depending on whether you are an adult or a teenager, you can take over-the-counter medicine (e.g., tylenol and mortrin) to help reduce the discomfort.
Reply:You will find it a little inconvenient at first and may find it difficult to eat food, but will get used to it eventually. From http://aches.in/dentalbraces.html
Reply:You wont be able to eat normal food for awhile and when you get them tightened you will be in so much pain you will cry. Braces suck.
Reply:It's been a long time since I had mine, but as far as I can remember, they were just a nuisance. They didn't hurt much, but they felt really awkward at first.

You won't believe how smooth your teeth will seem to you when you get them off.
Reply:Depending on the condition of your teeth, it really won't hurt too much. And the process is completely painless, so there's nothing to be afraid of. Your mouth will be sore for about a day or 2 after you get them on, but you can take Advil or something and you'll be fine. You can't bite things directly on like the first day, so try tearing off small pieces of food or else you'll hurt yourself. =) Good luck!
Reply:Braces hurt the first few days and every time the orthodontist tightens them. Other than that (for me) they were pretty much pain free except for the occasional wire poking the inside of your mouth.

When I started wearing a mouthguard, why did my teeth started to hurt?

everytime i take the mouthguard off, i feel that my teeth hurt, especially the ones at front, and also the back teeth... why is it so?

When I started wearing a mouthguard, why did my teeth started to hurt?
The mouth-guard may need some adjusting. If this was made at your dental office, just ask them when it will be convenient for you to come in for an adjustment.

If it's one you made, then you will need to try again.

Either the material distorted by either not leaving it in your mouth long enough to set, not getting a good bite initially or maybe the material didn't heat properly. Sometimes it's the slightest variances in temperature, material, even humidity can cause distortion.

Do not continue to wear this if it causes your teeth to hurt; that is an indication that the guard is applying too much pressure on an area and can cause shifting of your teeth to occur.

The best night guards, that are effective in controlling grinding and that offer the greatest comfort are the one that your dentist can fabricate for you made from an exact replica of your teeth and tissue.

The teeth will hurt when a force is applied, the mouth guard was pushing them out of their normal position; such as orthodontic treatment does.

In the back of my two frount teeth I got fillings from the dentist and now my teeth hurt whenever ...?

I drink something cold like milk. On a scale from 1 to 10 it is like a 7! Its very painful. What is wrong with my teeth?

( My teeth did hurt by cold things before I got my fillings but they where not this bad. )

Please PLEASE tell me what I should do!!!

In the back of my two frount teeth I got fillings from the dentist and now my teeth hurt whenever ...?
It's not unusual for teeth to be sensitive following restorations... how long ago did you have the fillings placed? The sensitivity may gradually improve, but watch for symptoms such as sensitivity to hot, lingering pain after the stimulus is removed, pain with biting, spontaneous aching, or swelling on the gum tissue. Also, check which toothpaste you are using. Anything containing whitening, tartar control agents, or baking soda can make sensitive teeth WAY worse. Switch to a toothpaste for sensitive teeth; it may take a couple days of using it to notice a difference. (make sure the sens. toothpaste you get doesn't have any whitening, tartar control stuff in it!) If the decay was deep into the tooth structure, the teeth may not recover and you could end up needing root canals. Do you have a tendency to grind your teeth? Your dentist should be able to tell; grinding or clenching can make teeth very sensitive as well. If it's only been a few days since the fillings and cold sensitivity is your only symptom, give it a little more time and try the toothpaste, but definitely see your dentist if any of the above mentioned symptoms appear. Good luck!
Reply:Try sensodyne toothpaste for 2 weeks. if it does not improve, call the denitst.
Reply:Yes sensodyne should work. But dont bother calling the dentist, as a dental assistant we tell all out paitence that white fillings 95 percent of the time cause sensitivity. Its just how it is.
Reply:They probably placed tooth colored fills which are often cold sensitive after placement. It will get better. The sensitive toothpaste will help just be sure to brush, spit, and do not rinse/eat/or drink for 30 minutes. If you rinse/eat/drink you will only rinse off the ingredient that calms the sensitivity. Also, when you finish brushing put some of the sensitivity toothpaste on your finger and rub it on those teeth for better results. All sensitive toothpastes are the same.
Reply:Lots of info here.
Reply:Sensodyne can help. Give your teeth a few weeks to adjust. Also, you should use plastic straws when possible. This will directthe cold liquid past your front teeth and help with the pain.
